Yes, MacBook Air has a notch, starting with the M2 13-inch and 15-inch models. The camera housing sits in the center of the menu bar, same idea as 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro.
M1 MacBook Air does not. Neither do Intel Airs. On those machines, the menu bar is a clean strip.
People still search “MacBook Air Dynamic Island” because the black camera block *looks* like iPhone’s island. It isn’t. macOS does not run Dynamic Island. It’s just a webcam cutout.

What the notch is for
Apple’s version: keep a webcam at the top of a tall 16:10 panel without shrinking the screen with thick bezels. The menu bar splits around it. Clock and status items sit on the sides.
What it is *not*: a touch target, an official widget dock, or a clone of iPhone live activities.
Making the Air notch useful
Third-party notch apps expand a panel from that camera block: music, a file shelf, clipboard, timers. On an Air, that can matter more than on a Pro. You have less screen, so extra windows hurt more.
Notch Space works with the hardware notch on M2+ Airs. On an M1 Air or any Mac without a notch, it uses a floating island at the top of the display so the same clipboard / shelf / widgets workflow still works. Intel Macs are supported too.

If you hate the notch
Some people hide it with a wallpaper that matches the camera block, or with utilities that draw a black bar. That’s cosmetic. It doesn’t add controls.
If you want the opposite (use the dead pixels), a single notch hub is cleaner than three new menu-bar icons on a 13-inch Air.
